Student & Teacher Appreciation

I balance my artistic time between my Let’s Draw sketching biz and a deep study in painting with my maestro Javier Alvarez. Call it my unofficial masters in painting.

As a teacher AND a student I have a unique opportunity to relate to both my teacher and my students.

As a student, I see the tasks and a long road in front of me.
As a teacher I have a plan and see the journey of process.

As a student I just want to get it done.
As a teacher I want my students to really understand and confidently build upon each skill.

As a student I only notice what I don’t understand.
As a teacher I see mistakes as an opportunity for better comprehension and discovery.

As a student I see all my failures.
As a teacher, I see the improvement and potential.

As a student I see practice as more work.
As a teacher I see the necessary effort to incremental mastery.

Hats off to teachers, our persistent cheerleaders, whose optimism and unwavering effort guides us to know wonderful things about the world and ourselves.

And here’s to the students who work so hard, and are brave enough to struggle and keep trying.
